Born a short walk away from Goodison Park, Jonjoe Kenny joined Everton’s Academy at the age of nine.

His versatility and composure on the ball saw him deployed at full-back, centre-back and in central midfield, progressing through the ranks. He continued to employ his admirable flexibility for the senior side but made the majority of First-Team appearances as a right-back.

Having represented England at youth level, Kenny recovered from a broken collarbone just in time to make the Under-17s squad for the 2014 European Championship finals.

Kenny lifted the trophy aloft alongside captain and fellow Blue Ryan Ledson after netting the shootout-winning penalty in the final against Holland.

In December 2014, Kenny was named on the bench for Everton's First-Team game against FC Krasnodar.

Having captained the Under-21s throughout 2014/15, he gained his first taste of senior action in pre-season at Swindon Town in July 2015.

Kenny spent the first three months of 2015/16 on loan at Wigan Athletic, before joining League Two outfit Oxford United in January for the remainder of the season.

He played 20 games for the club, helping Michael Appleton's side gain promotion to the third tier as runners-up.

Kenny returned to Everton and was handed his senior debut off the bench when David Unsworth and Joe Royle took charge for the final game of the 2015/16 season, a 3-0 home victory over Norwich City.

The Kirkdale-born youngster spent the majority of the 2016/17 season with Unsworth, captaining the Under-23s to the Premier League 2 title, while making a solitary first-team appearance - away at Swansea City - towards the end of the term.

Kenny went on to establish himself as an Everton First-Team player in 2017/18, making 25 senior appearances and deputising superbly for Seamus Coleman while the Republic of Ireland captain was sidelined with a broken leg.

His performances were rewarded when he penned a new four-and-a-half-year deal with the Club in December 2017.

Kenny also gained recognition when awarded the Supporters' Club Young Player of the Season in May 2018.

The defender made 12 senior appearances in 2018/19 and was included in the England squad for the European Under-21 Championship in Italy and San Marino, where he played twice.

Kenny spent 2019/20 on loan with Germans Schalke 04 and made 34 appearances, scoring twice, for the Bundesliga club.

Returning to Goodison in the summer of 2020, the player made eight appearances for Everton in 2020/21. He joined Celtic for the rest of the campaign on the final day of the January transfer window and played 16 games for the Scottish club.

His 2021/22, then, represented a first season in three that Kenny hadn't spent time away from his employers. He had to wait until December to start his first Premier League game, a 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

Frank Lampard's appointment as manager opened the door to increased opportunity, however, and Kenny featured 11 times in the closing three months as Everton made a late dash for safety.

Kenny started at Arsenal on the final day for his 50th league appearance for the Club.
