Left-back Niels Nkounkou joined Everton on a free transfer from Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille in July 2020, agreeing a three-year deal with the Blues.
Nkounkou, who played for Marseille’s B team in 2019/20 having progressed through the club’s youth ranks, was born in Pontoise, a suburb of Paris.
He has France caps at Under-18 and Under-19 levels.
The player celebrated his 20th birthday with a Premier League debut at Newcastle United on 1 November 2020 following rampaging displays in League Cup victories over Salford City, Fleetwood Town and West Ham United.
Nkounkou played as a substitute in an FA Cup third-round success against Rotherham United and his second league appearance came from the bench, on the season's final day, at Manchester City.
At the end of August 2021, following a start in the League Cup win at Huddersfield Town, the defender joined Standard Liege on a season-long loan, playing 25 matches for the Belgian side.
Contracted until: June 2023
