Luke Butterfield

Central midfielder Luke Butterfield joined Everton at Under-12 level having previously played for Blackburn Rovers.

Having impressively progressed through the ranks at Everton, he signed a first professional contract with the Club in October 2020, penning a three-year deal until June 2023.

Butterfield emerged as a key player for Paul Tait's Everton Under-18s in 2020/21 and produced the most exhilarating moment of the campaign when he scored a stunning 98th-minute winner to knock holders Manchester City out of the FA Youth Cup at the fourth-round stage.

As well as being a consistent starter for Everton Under-18s, Butterfield made six appearances for the Toffees' Under-23s in 2020/21.

Butterfield's eye-catching development resulted in him spending the majority of his time with the Under-23s the following season and he made 16 Premier League 2 appearances, contributing one goal.

He also played every minute of Everton's Youth Cup campaign as the Toffees reached the last 16, before being eliminated by eventual winners Manchester United.

In October 2022, Butterfield signed a new three-year contract with the Club until the end of June 2025.

A Scotland youth international who boasts impressive technique and a wide passing range, his football idol is Barcelona great Sergio Busquets.

Butterfield’s favourite pre-match meal is beans on toast and his other hobbies include golf.
