Elise Hughes

Lifelong Evertonian Elise Hughes advanced through the Club’s Academy before making her first-team debut against Arsenal in February 2018.

Formerly a defender, the 18-year-old Welsh ace has flourished since moving to centre-forward.

Hughes netted her maiden goal for Everton in a Merseyside derby triumph over Liverpool in December 2018. She went on to make a further 11 appearances for Everton in 2018/19.

Hughes saw her impressive progress rewarded when she signed a first professional contract with the Toffees in August 2019.

Having received her first senior international call-up in March 2018, Hughes is now a regular in the Wales set-up.

In January 2020, Hughes joined Bristol City on loan for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign with the aim of gaining more first-team experience.

She played three times for the Robins but sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury playing against Liverpool on 19 January, bringing her season to a premature close.

Hughes sealed another temporary switch in September 2020 when she continued her development by joining Championship club Blackburn Rovers for the 2020/21 season.

She enjoyed an impressive campaign with Rovers, netting six goals and providing three assists. Hughes also showcased her versatility throughout the season, filling in admirably in various positions, including centre-back.
