England Under-18 international Tyler Onyango joined Everton aged eight and made a senior debut at 17 when he came off the bench for the final five minutes of an FA Cup fourth-round victory over Sheffield Wednesday in January 2021.

He made a further three First-Team appearances in 2021/22, featuring in the Blues' Premier League games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

A skilful, athletic midfielder, Onyango reads the game well and boasts impressive stamina.

Having consistently shone for Everton’s Under-18 team, Onyango was promoted to the Blues’ Under-23 set-up during the 2019/20 campaign.

Luton-born Onyango played in seven Premier League 2 matches before the season was ended early due to the coronavirus pandemic.

His development was further underlined by selection in two of the young Blues’ Leasing.com Trophy games in 2019/20. Onyango featured in matches against Crewe Alexandra and Fleetwood Town in the competition, which saw the young Blues test themselves against senior opposition.

He signed a first professional contract in July 2020, penning a three-year deal with Everton.

Onyango grew into a key component of the Under-23 team from the outset of 2020/21. He figured in 17 Premier League 2 matches, scoring twice, alongside routinely training with the Club's First Team.

The player was part of a further 10 senior matchday squads following his Cup bow.

Onyango's season was cut short by an ankle injury sustained in an April FA Youth Cup tie with Manchester City but his otherwise wholly positive campaign was recognised with the Keith Tamlin Award – presented to a player for consistently attaining high standards of “excellence, attitude and application” during his time in the Academy – at the Club's annual Academy Awards.

As well as his First-Team appearances in 2021/22, Onyango made 10 Premier League 2 outings for Everton Under-23s, having missed a period of the season with an ankle injury.

After penning a new three-year deal, Onyango joined League One side Burton Albion on loan for the 2022/23 season. However, after making 16 League One appearances. he was recalled from his loan spell in January.

A few weeks later, he returned to League One, playing on loan under Duncan Ferguson at Forest Green Rovers. Unfortunately, Onyango’s time there was cut short after a serious hamstring injury against Morecambe caused him to return to Finch Farm early.

Contracted until: June 2025
