Highly-rated England international Christiansen rejoined Everton in January 2020 having started her senior career with the Toffees 11 years earlier.
She was unable to make an Everton appearance during the 2019/20 season, however, owing to injury and the WSL being ended early due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Christiansen would emerge as one of Everton's outstanding performers in the 2020/21 season, when she was named the Club’s Player of the Season.
The England international registered six goals and six assists in the Women’s Super League and helped the Blues achieve a fifth-placed finish.
She was instrumental as Everton reached the FA Cup final in November 2020 and assisted Valerie Gauvin for the Blues’ equaliser against Manchester City at Wembley, but the Toffees were eventually edged 3-1 after extra-time.
Christiansen – who signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with Everton in January 2021 – was also one of the nominees for the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Season award in recognition of her efforts during the 2020/21 campaign.
The following season, Christiansen’s consistent performances were awarded with the captain’s armband on the field while Dan Turner remained at the Club captain.
Playing in a deeper role, Christiansen played every league game for Everton in 2021/22 apart from the final two outings when the England international was ruled out through injury.
The following season would be Christiansen's final season in professional football as she announced her intention to retire at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Retiring at 31 years old, she competed at the top level of women's football for 14 years.
Christiansen, who in recent years has become a highly-rated football pundit on television and radio, hangs up her boots having made more than 300 appearances for club and country, scoring 62 career goals.
A product of the Manchester United academy, she initially signed with the Blues in 2008 before moving on to Birmingham City the following year.
Christiansen spent five seasons in the Midlands before completing a move to Manchester City, where she won the FA WSL Continental Cup in 2014.
In 2015/16, the Macclesfield-born midfielder's form led to her being recognised by her peers as she was named PFA Women's Players' Player of the Year.
Christiansen's form over four campaigns with City drew the attention of French giants Lyon and a switch to the then European champions was sealed in July 2018.
In her first campaign with Les Lyonnaises, Christiansen helped the team to achieve a league, cup and Champions League treble.
