Luke Garbutt joined Everton from Leeds United in summer 2009. He switched from the Yorkshire side's academy to sign as a scholar with the Blues.

 

Garbutt played for England from Under-16 through to Under-21 level and featured for his country at the Under-20 World Cup in June 2013.

He spent the majority of the 2011/12 campaign on loan at Cheltenham Town, helping the Robins reach the League Two play-off final.

The left-back made his senior Everton debut as a second-half substitute in a 5-0 League Cup win over Leyton Orient in August 2012.

 

Garbutt was loaned to Colchester United in League One from September 2013 to January 2014, returning to feature on the Everton bench before being handed a Premier League debut against Southampton in April.

He played 10 times for Everton in 2014/15, impressing in both Premier League and Europa League action.

 

Garbutt spent the following season on loan in the Championship with Fulham.

 

He made 25 appearances at Craven Cottage gaining more first-team experience.

Just weeks before the move, Garbutt had signed a new five-year contract at Goodison Park.

In August 2016, Garbutt agreed a loan move to Wigan Athletic until the following January. He played eight Championship matches in his time at the DW Stadium.

The defender moved to Oxford United in July 2018 on a season-long loan and scored four goals in 36 appearances for the League One club.

Garbutt returned to the third tier by joining Ipswich Town on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.
