Everton completed the signing of Henry Onyekuru in June 2017, before immediately sending the forward out on a season-long loan to Anderlecht.
Onyekuru joined the Blues from Belgian outfit Eupen on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee to become the Club’s third signing of the 2017 summer transfer window.
He arrived at Goodison Park on the back of a prolific 2016-17 season, where he finished the Pro League’s joint-top scorer with 22 goals.
In his two years with Eupen, Onyekuru averaged a goal every two appearances, leaving the club boasting an eye-catching statistic of 30 goals in 60 matches in all competitions.
Born in Onitsha, Nigeria, Onyekuru joined the esteemed Aspire Academy aged 13 and spent five years at the Doha-based facility before joining up with Eupen.
He is a Nigeria international, having made his senior debut for the Super Eagles against Togo in June 2017.
After joining Anderlecht on loan from Evertonr, Onyekuru got off to a flying start for the Belgian giants. He hit 10 goals in 28 games before suffering a knee ligament injury in December 2017.
The injury ruled the pacy forward out of the rest of the season as well as the World Cup finals in Russia.
He recaptured fitness in time to seal a loan move to Turkish outfit Galatasaray for the 2018-19 campaign. And Onyekuru further demonstrated his scoring prowess during a profitable campaign in Istanbul, the 22-year-old netting 14 times in 28 starts to help Galatasaray pip city rivals Basaksehir to the title.
Onyekuru added two strikes in a Turkish cup semi-final meeting with Yeni Malatyaspor and played 90 minutes in his side's 3-1 final success over Akhisar Belediyespor.
