Clare Wheeler

Clare Wheeler initially joined Everton on loan from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring in August 2022.

Hailed by manager Brian Sorensen as one of the most consistent players he has coached, Wheeler reunited with the Danish boss on Merseyside, having worked with him at Fortuna.

After an impressive opening six months, Wheeler's move to the Blues was made permanent as she signed a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2023.

Born in Coffs Harbour in Australia, Wheeler started her career in 2013 aged 15 when she was selected to play for Newcastle Jets.

Wheeler would represent Newcastle for the next seven years before signing for Sydney FC.

After a year in the Harbour City, she would begin a new journey in the summer of 2021, joining Sørensen's Fortuna Hjørring.

It was during her time in Denmark that Wheeler would break into the senior international setup, making her debut for the Matildas in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland in September 2022.

Despite periods of time out injured, the Australia international was still able to make 21 appearances in her debut Everton campaign.
