Ormskirk-born Kieran Dowell has been associated with the Blues since he signed on with the Club’s Academy as a seven-year-old.

He spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Nottingham Forest, making 43 appearances for the Midlands club and chipping in with an impressive 10 goals from midfield.

The previous season, the skilful midfielder was a pivotal figure for Everton Under-23s as they won the Premier League 2 title.

Dowell’s promise has consistently been recognised by his national team set-up, the player having appeared regularly for England at age-group level, from Under-16 to Under-21.

Indeed, Dowell was a key component in the England side that triumphed in the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. He started in six of England’s seven games in the tournament, including the 1-0 final victory over Venezuela.

He made his Everton first-team debut back in December 2014, coming on a substitute in the Europa League clash against FC Krasnodar. He has made two Premier League appearances for the Blues.

In August 2018, Dowell penned a new three-year Everton deal alongside fellow Academy graduate Callum Connolly.

He joined Sheffield United on loan in January 2019 and played an important role as the Blades put together an impressive run of form to secure a Premier League return. Dowell made 16 appearances in his time at Bramall Lane and scored two goals, including a winner at promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Dowell spent the first half of the 2019/20 season on loan at Derby County and, in January 2020, moved to their Championship rivals Wigan Athletic for the remainder of the campaign.

He played 10 times for Derby without finding the net but was more influential for Paul Cook's enterprising Wigan.

Dowell scored five goals in 12 appearances for the Latics – including a hat-trick in Wigan's 8-0 thumping of Hull City – and was a prominent figure in a team which won five and drew three of its final nine games but was relegated because of a 12-point deduction imposed by the English Football League.
