Bolasie: I'm Getting Stronger Every Day

Yannick Bolasie says he is “getting stronger every day” and that kicking a football again is “a beautiful feeling”.

The winger is 10 months into his rehabilitation from a cruciate knee ligament injury and last week uploaded a video of himself doing ball work at Everton's Finch Farm training ground to Instagram, alongside the caption “practice makes perfect in God’s time".

The post has since been watched more than 350,000 times and prompted messages of support from footballers including Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure.

The DR Congo international, 28, has also been inundated with well wishes from Evertonians and says he is working hard to get back out on the pitch so he can start repaying them as soon as possible.

“It’s a beautiful feeling just to be out on the grass,” Bolasie told evertontv. “I hadn’t posted anything on social media but when I did people thought maybe it was my first day. But, no, I’ve been back out there for a while now.

“I’m just happy to be back out there and moving about the way I can. I’m getting stronger by the day and I’m looking forward to coming back.

“There’s still a while to go but I’m happy with where I’m at. At this stage, I couldn’t ask to be in a better place and everything just seems like it’s clicking into place.

“I’ve got time to practice some things that I need to, so I’m happy.”

The former Crystal Palace star added: “The support I’ve had has been incredible. When I posted the video, I didn’t expect to get that many retweets and that much support.

“Obviously, to have big African icons that I look up to like Drogba and Yaya Toure supporting me as well, I would never have thought of that. It just makes me want to come back stronger.

“And also the fans. They’ve always been on my side since I’ve been injured. Now I’m looking forward to coming back and showing them what I really can do.

“I believe they’ve seen a side of me at Crystal Palace and I’m sure I can provide that side but even better.

“When you have that many people watching your progress... I’m just happy and honoured. I feel like a lucky human being having that support.”
