Sandro Ready For 'Massive' Spurs Clash

Sandro Ramirez is counting down the days until Everton resume their Premier League campaign with a “massive” Goodison Park clash against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Spaniard endured a fractured start to his campaign after suffering a heel injury on the Premier League’s opening day against Stoke last month.

The forward missed both legs of the Blues' Europa League tie against Hajduk Split and the Premier League visit to Manchester City, which was sandwiched between the games against the Croatian team.

Sandro returned for Everton’s final match before the current international break – the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea – when he operated as a lone striker until making way for Dominic Calvert-Lewin just past the hour mark.

Unlike a multitude of his teammates, Sandro has been working at USM Finch Farm during the hiatus in domestic action. And he has used the time to ensure he is in prime condition for the meeting with Maurico Pochettino’s Spurs.

“I wanted to use these two weeks to prepare and keep improving ahead of the Tottenham game,” Sandro told evertontv.

“I have worked hard to prepare for the Spurs game which for us, in front of our fans, will be massive. I feel very positive about the team going into this match.

“The week before the Chelsea game I was not really resting, because I was training and preparing myself.

“I had two weeks of problems with my heel but I was looking forward to playing again when we went to Chelsea. Now I feel one hundred per cent and I want to be ready for the Spurs game.”

Sandro was one of nine players signed by Everton during the summer transfer window.

He joined from Malaga, where he scored 14 goals in 30 La Liga games after arriving in the south of Spain from Barcelona in the summer of 2016.

The 22-year-old helped the Spanish Under-21 side reach the final of June’s European Championship and made a positive impact on Evertonians before his untimely layoff.

He scored his first Goodison goal in the pre-season friendly draw with Sevilla and was instrumental in the creation of Wayne Rooney's decisive strike in the victory over Stoke.

And with Everton now poised for a third meeting in succession with a team from last season’s top four, Sandro has been keen to spell out his excitement at being part of the Premier League.

“I think playing in England suits me - it gives me the chance to make runs in behind and attack the spaces,” he added.

“One of the reasons I came to the Premier League was I knew I was coming to one of England’s biggest clubs. So far it has been very good. Of course, there are so many things we need to improve and we are working every day on the training ground to get better.”
