Connolly Signs Ipswich Deal

Defender Callum Connolly has sealed a season-long loan switch to Championship club Ipswich Town.

The Liverpool-born Academy graduate spent the second half of last season with Wigan Athletic, where he played 17 matches and scored twice – both coming on his debut against Burton Albion.

Connolly was part of the England Under-20 squad that won the World Cup in Korea this summer and has played all three of Everton Under-23s’ Premier League 2 matches this term.

He had a one-month stint with Barnsley in the 2015/16 campaign before returning to Goodison and making his first-team debut, as a 54th-minute substitute for Seamus Coleman in a 1-1 home draw with Southampton in April 2016.

Connolly joins an Ipswich team flying high in the Championship. Mick McCarthy’s side has won four of five games this season and are second in the table, three points behind early pacesetters Cardiff City.
