Seamus Coleman says Everton “have to get themselves back on track” after the Blues’ six-game unbeaten run at Goodison Park was ended by a ruthless Tottenham Hotspur outfit.
Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson were on target for Marco Silva’s side but a display of clinical finishing from the visitors saw Spurs wrap up a fourth consecutive Premier League victory.
The Toffees are back in action in just three days as they travel to Burnley and Coleman insists the players must showcase their resilience at Turf Moor.
“We have to get ourselves back on track, the confidence is still there,” he said. “We have some winnable games, but we know they are all tough.
“We were looking forward to the game and to go 1-0 up was important, especially.
“We could possibly have gone 2-0 up, too. If Dom’s goal had stood, it would have been difficult for them to get back into to the game.
“The goal we conceded [to make it 1-1] maybe affected us more than it should have.”

The pair thought they had fashioned a second minutes later. Walcott was the provider this time – clipping in a cross that Calvert-Lewin brilliantly headed into the top corner.
The striker’s effort was chalked off however, the referee adjudging he had pushed Spurs centre-back Davinson Sanchez before his pinpoint finish.
Spurs were soon level through Son Heung-Min and strikes from England duo Dele Alli and Harry Kane put the visitors 3-1 ahead before half-time.
Christian Eriksen arrowed home just after the break, before Gylfi Sigurdsson expertly placed the ball past Hugo Lloris to reduce the arrears.
Tottenham were to have the final word, though, with Son and Kane each completing braces with well-worked goals.
Coleman – who made his 273rd Everton appearance on Sunday, drawing level with Blues legends Alex Young and Duncan Ferguson – admitted Spurs were top-class opponents.
He stressed, however, Everton must shore up defensively as they ready themselves for a spell of three matches in eight days.
After the clash with Burnley on Boxing Day, the Toffees travel to the south coast to take on Brighton & Hove Albion on December 29. Leicester City then visit the Grand Old Lady on New Year’s Day
“Credit to Tottenham, they showed their quality, but we are disappointed,” he said.
“I think the manner of the goals we conceded is most disappointing
“But we have a big game in a few days [against Burnley], so we have to pick ourselves up for it.”
