Adrian Heath can finally add a European Cup Winners’ Cup winners’ medal to his personal silverware collection.

Former Everton forward Heath, twice an English title winner with the Club, was presented with his European keepsake at a packed Goodison Park at half-time of Saturday’s clash with Cardiff City.

The medal was commissioned and paid for by the Everton Heritage Society from a Swiss jeweller and is an exact replica of the ones awarded after the Blues' triumph over Rapid Vienna in 1985.

Heath scored 94 goals in 308 appearances across six-and-a-half years with Everton after signing for a then Club-record £700,000 from Stoke City in January 1982.

He was part of Howard Kendall’s FA Cup winning team in 1984 and had helped Everton navigate the opening two rounds of the following season’s Cup Winners’ Cup when he suffered an injury playing against Sheffield Wednesday.

Heath was forced to sit out the remainder of the run to Rotterdam and Everton’s 3-1 victory over Rapid Vienna in the final, meaning he didn't receive a medal.

He would return to significant effect and scored 11 goals in 41 league appearances as Kendall’s team reclaimed their championship crown from Liverpool in 1986-87.

Heath was inducted into the Club’s Hall of Fame when he was named an Everton Giant at the 2017-18 end-of-season awards.

The 57-year-old, who lives and works in the United States – where he manages Minnesota United – is in England during the off-season Stateside and was invited to Goodison to celebrate his Hall of fame honour.

But Heath was treated to an additional surprise when his contribution to Everton’s European glory 33 years ago was recognised with some precious hardware, presented by Club Ambassador and decorated former teammate Graeme Sharp.
