Generous Gomes Earns Fan For Life

Andre Gomes won himself a new fan on Thursday when he took a young Toffees supporter on an impromptu shopping trip to Everton One.

The Blues midfielder had joined a group of Evertonians for a bus tour around Liverpool when he noticed 10-year-old Sam feeling the cold during a stop at Goodison Park.

Supporters were posing for shots next to the Dixie Dean statue with 25-year-old Gomes and Ambassador Graham Stuart, when the Portugal international star broke off to visit the Club megastore with his young friend in tow.

Sam selected a hooded Everton jacket – and found himself with a new scarf, too, when Gomes, capped 29 times by his country, was unable to resist a second purchase at the till.

The player, who joined Everton on a season-long loan from Barcelona on August's transfer deadline day, signed Sam's jacket, leaving the Evertonian – a Family Enclosure Season Ticket Member – to reflect on "the best day of my life".

Gomes was one of four Everton players to participate in the 'If you know your history' tours, with fellow new boys Kurt Zouma, Lucas Digne and Bernard all boarding double deckers for sightseeing journeys around the city.

In addition to Goodison, the buses – operated by Club partner Stagecoach – stopped at Everton landmarks including Prince Rupert's Tower, Bramley-Moore Dock and Royal Liver Building, home to the Blues' new offices.

Gomes made his Everton debut on Sunday, impressing in a 2-0 Goodison Park victory over Crystal Palace - his first competitive action since playing for Barcelona against Celta Vigo on April 17.

He will hope to feature when manager Marco Silva takes his eighth-place team to Old Trafford for a Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
