Defender Mina Trains With Silva's Everton

Yerry Mina trained with Everton’s first-team squad on Friday morning as the Colombia international closes on full fitness following a foot problem.

Centre-back Mina was joined in the session by James McCarthy, who is back doing light work as he steps up his recovery from the broken leg he suffered in January.

Mina was one of the stars of this summer's World Cup in Russia and scored three goals in as many games for his country, including the last-ditch equaliser which sent Colombia’s last-16 tie with England into extra time.

The towering 23-year-old defender signed a five-year contract with Everton when he joined from Spanish five-times European champions Barcelona on August’s transfer deadline day.

Mina’s foot issue has been closely monitored since his arrival by the Club’s medical staff, who gave him the green light to train today.

McCarthy sustained his injury in a match against West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park. He started running outside last month and is now stepping up his fitness push by training alongside Marco Silva's team.
