Allardyce Nominated For Manager Of The Month Award

Everton boss Sam Allardyce has been shortlisted for the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month award after guiding the Blues to a four-match unbeaten run in April.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho are among Allardyce’s rivals for the prize, with Crystal Palace chief Roy Hodgson and West Bromwich Albion interim boss Darren Moore also nominated.

Everton kicked off a productive April by earning a goalless draw against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, before picking up another point with a 1-1 draw away against Swansea City, a side who had beaten Liverpool, Arsenal, Burnley and West Ham United in their previous four Liberty Stadium outings.

Allardyce’s men then ended Newcastle United’s four-game winning streak with a 1-0 Goodison triumph that came courtesy of Theo Walcott’s second-half strike, before Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Huddersfield Town, courtesy of Cenk Tosun’s fifth Toffees goal and a further effort from midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, ensured eight April points from a possible 12 available.

Only five men have won more Manager of the Month awards in the Premier League era than Allardyce, who will be looking to take the coveted prize for the seventh time in his career.

The winner of April’s award will be decided by combining the results of a fan poll with the votes of a Premier League panel and the captains of the 20 Premier League clubs. Supporters can cast their vote by clicking here. The winner will be announced later this month.
