Snoeijs Extends Everton Stay

Everton forward Katja Snoeijs has extended her stay with the Club, signing a new two-year contract until the end of June 2026.

The Netherlands international joined the Blues in the summer of 2022, the first permanent signing by manager Brian Sorensen, and follows defender Elise Stenevik’s decision this week to commit her future to Everton by penning a two-year deal.

Snoeijs has flourished in Royal Blue, leading the Club’s goalscoring ranks in back-to-back seasons, and the 27-year-old is eager for more success with Sorensen’s squad.

“It’s always nice to get clarity of your next step in your career and I’m really happy for that,” she told evertontv.

“I’ve been here for two seasons, but I feel there’s still so much I can give to the team and to the Club.

“As a player, you’re always hungry to do more.

“Finishing the season the way we did as a group, and also my own individual performances, I think gives us a lot of confidence to build on in pre-season and for next season, too.

“I want to keep developing and I’m happy I can continue my journey at Everton.”

Manager Sorensen signed the Dutch striker after her two-year spell with French side Bordeaux.

After the Dane and his assistant manager Stephen Neligan committed their futures to the Club in April, Snoeijs was keen to keep working with the duo.

“I’ve mentioned before how Brian was been a massive part of why I chose to come to Everton,” Snoeijs continued.

“You can see we are building a promising project. I like the way he wants us to play, and I think over the past two seasons we have built something.

“It hasn’t always been consistent enough, so I’m looking forward to the next two seasons where we can hopefully put in more consistent performances.

“The good thing about this group is we stick together. This season has only brought us closer together and that’s what makes the highs even more enjoyable.”

Snoeijs follows Stenevik who extended her stay at the Club on Friday. The pair are in agreement the unity within the squad and the connection with supporters is key to staying on Merseyside.

“The fans give you extra energy, they lift you up when you need it,” Snoeijs said.

“I’m definitely looking forward to playing at Walton Hall Park again next season and away games with our travelling fans.

“Since the minute I walked in, I felt at home. Not just those around the team like the players and staff, everyone at Finch Farm. They all look after each other and make you feel welcome.

“That’s really important as a football player, to feel at home at the club you’re at.”

Manager Sorensen told evertonfc.com: “First of all, Katja is a wonderful person to work with. She is a great teammate, and you can always count on her to give maximum effort. She’s an excellent football player.

“This season has been up and down for us as a team but, in terms of her performances, Katja has been very consistent. I know she wants to score more goals and I’m sure that’s going to come when we as a team get better.

“She is very talented, can beat players and get into good situations to score.

“Katja gives 100-per-cent every time. As a player, technically she’s really gifted but also really smart. She’s a player I rely on.

“Hopefully next season we will have a bit more consistency and Katja will flourish further.”
