Everton Award Winners Revealed

Jordan Pickford and Jarrad Branthwaite have claimed the top accolades in Everton Men's End of Season Awards.

The duo – both named in Gareth Southgate's training squad on Tuesday for this summer's European Championships – were among the 2023/24 winners that also included Courtney Brosnan and Heather Payne for the Women's Senior Team, and Jenson Metcalfe in the Under-21s.

After another stellar campaign as the Blues No.1, Pickford collected a third successive Player of the Season prize – as voted for by Evertonians – while Branthwaite won awards for Players' Player of the Season and fans' Young Player of the Season.

Elsewhere, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s headed goal in April’s 2-0 Merseyside derby victory earned top spot as Everton’s 2023/24 Goal of the Season, also voted for by supporters.

Pickford’s standout displays throughout 2023/24 saw him named Everton Player of the Season for a record-breaking fourth time. Garnering 43.9 per cent of the vote, Pickford once again impressed for the Toffees, and was a key figure in a well-organised Everton defence.

Only Arsenal’s David Raya earned more clean sheets in the Premier League this season (16) than Pickford (13), and the Everton goalkeeper made more than twice as many saves (117) as the Gunners’ shot stopper (45).

Nominated for Premier League Player of the Month for April, the Everton and England No.1 picked up January’s Save of the Month for his effort to deny Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, which also has him in the running for the league's Save of the Season.

One of just six players to feature in every Premier League minute, Pickford recorded 38 starts for the Blues, registering a 73.9 per cent save percentage – the third highest in the top-flight.

Branthwaite enjoyed an incredible breakthrough year for the Blues during a campaign which concludes with him earning Everton’s Young Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.

Recognised by his peers, the 21-year-old defender also caught the eye of England manager Southgate, securing his first senior England call-up in March.

Prior to this term, the young centre-back had totalled just six league starts for the Toffees since his arrival from hometown-club Carlisle United in January 2020.

However, this season, Branthwaite made 35 appearances for the Blues, playing the third-most minutes for Everton (3,116) behind only Pickford (3,420) and centre-back partner James Tarkowski (3,419).

For Evertonians voting on Goal of the Season, Calvert-Lewin’s header in the home victory over Liverpool was the dominant choice.

The striker nodded to double Everton’s lead just before the hour mark, and the Toffees went on to seal the 2-0 victory – the Blues’ first Merseyside derby victory at Goodison Park for 14 years.

The goal for Calvert-Lewin, who struck four times in his final seven games of the season, amassed 45.5 per cent of the fans' vote.

For the Women’s awards, Brosnan won Players’ Player of the Season, becoming only the second goalkeeper to claim the award after former Blue Rachel Brown-Finnis.

The Republic of Ireland international made 20 Women’s Super League appearances for the Toffees, recording 95 saves – the most in the division, while also boasting a 75.4 percentage, which ranks as the third highest in the top-flight.

Elsewhere, Payne was chosen by the coaching staff as Young Player of the Season. Payne, also a Republic of Ireland international, has impressed since her arrival on Merseyside in August 2023.

The versatile and well-rounded 24-year-old, who often operates as a right-wing-back, topped the Everton side for attempted take-ons (48), as well as crosses (45), while finishing second behind only Clare Wheeler (63) for tackles (43).

For Everton Under-21s, Head Coach Paul Tait chose promising playmaker Metcalfe as the young Blues’ Player of the Season.

Technically proficient, the 19-year-old central midfielder has been a standout for the Toffees, notching six goal contributions across 18 Premier League 2 matches, while also netting twice in his side’s Premier League International Cup semi-final.

The Spirit of the Blues award was won by The 1878s, a group of Evertonians who travel home and away and have been working with the Club to develop initiatives around developing the Goodison Park atmosphere.

They have led on flags and banner displays which came to prominence in the final few weeks of the season – a run which saw Everton pick up five consecutive home victories without conceding for the first time in a single campaign since March-May 2013.

The Spirt of the Blues award was designed to recognise a supporter or supporters who inspire others and represents the spirit of everything Everton and our People's Club values.
