Loan Watch: Tyrer's Chesterfield Close In On Title

It was another busy weekend of football for Everton loanees in action for their temporary clubs. Here is an overview of how our players performed in this week’s Loan Watch...

Harry Tyrer – Chesterfield
Opponent: Oldham Athletic (A)
Competition: National League
Date: Saturday 16 March
Result: 2-2 draw
Overview: A win at the weekend would’ve secured the National League title for Chesterfield, but the Spireites were forced to battle back from a two-goal deficit to earn a point on Saturday.

On-loan goalkeeper Tyrer featured again for Paul Cook’s team, who now have 92 points – a club record for a league season.

If second-placed Barnet, who are 24 points behind Tyrer’s side, fail to win on Tuesday against Eastleigh, then the National League trophy will be heading to Chesterfield.

Kenzie Weir – Glasgow City

Opponent: Hearts (A)
Competition: Scottish Women's Premier League
Date: Saturday 16 March
Result: 2-0 win
Overview: Weir’s Glasgow City picked up a 2-0 victory in their first game of the second phase of the Scottish Women's Premier League.

Almost picking up an assist for her side's second goal, she found Emily Whelan with a well-timed through ball, but Whelan saw her initial effort saved, before converting from the rebound.

The 20-year-old defender Weir played the full match for City, whose win sees them close the gap to just a point behind Rangers at the top of the table, with just nine games remaining.

Zan-Luk Leban – Farsley Celtic

Opponent: Boston United (A)
Competition: National League North
Date: Saturday 16 March
Result: 3-0 defeat
Overview: Farsley fell to a 3-0 defeat on Saturday, as Boston’s Kelsey Mooney struck a hat-trick for the home side.

Young goalkeeper Leban played the full 90 minutes for Farsley, who will be hoping to recover from a difficult run of form, when they welcome Hereford on Saturday in their next game.

Neal Maupay – Brentford
Opponent: Burnley (A)
Competition: Premier League
Date: Saturday 16 March
Result: 2-1 defeat
Overview: A late substitute on Saturday, Maupay came on after 79 minutes for Brentford, who were 2-0 down at Burnley, with the Bees reduced to 10 men following Sergio Reguilon’s early dismissal.

Thomas Frank’s team pulled a goal back through Kristoffer Ajer’s headed effort on 83 minutes, but the home side managed to see out the victory to secure all three points.

Elijah Campbell – Fleetwood Town
Opponent: Charlton (H)
Competition: League One
Date: Saturday 16 March
Result: 1-1 draw
Overview: Still injured after picking up a knock last week against Stevenage, Campbell was not in the matchday squad for Saturday’s game.

Sean McAllister – Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Opponent: Ayr (H)
Competition: Scottish Championship
Date: Saturday 16 March
Result: 2-1 defeat
Overview: McAllister has missed the past two games due to a thigh injury, and Inverness manager Duncan Ferguson says the midfielder could be out for four to six weeks.
