Everton Midfield Duo Face Late Fitness Checks

Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gana Gueye face late fitness checks ahead of Everton's Premier League clash with West Ham United at Goodison Park this weekend.

The Blues host David Moyes' side on Saturday (3pm GMT kick-off), with a call yet to be made on the availability of midfield duo Onana and Gana, who are both managing groin issues.

Speaking in Thursday's pre-match press conference, manager Sean Dyche said: "[Gana] is still settling down and Ama [Onana] has got a groin thing, similar to Gana's, which is just settling down, so we'll make more of a decision on them tomorrow [Friday]."

There was positive news for the Toffees, as Dyche revealed André Gomes has now resumed training following an ankle injury, but Arnaut Danjuma remains a "longer-term situation".

"Arnie [Danjuma] is doing well with his ankle but it's obviously a longer-term situation," said Dyche. "He's doing really well. I just spoke to him before I came in [for the press conference] and he's in a good place, it's going well.

"André has been back out on the grass with us. He's going well."

Dele, meanwhile, has not featured this season after a setback from an operation to correct a groin injury and continues his rehabilitation without the pressure of a timescale on his return to full fitness.

Dyche added: "Dele's focus is just getting fit. Obviously, he's got a period [to go] yet but he's just focusing on that.

"We're not worrying about when, just, first things first, get fit. That's all we're looking for him to do and that's all he's looking to do."

Everton - who now sit in 15th place in the table after an Appeal Board returned its verdict to hand back four points earlier this week following an initial 10-point deduction in November - head into the game knowing a win could see them climb as high as 13th in the league standings.
