Harrison Reveals Reasons For Confidence

Jack Harrison is convinced Everton will continue to gain positive momentum, highlighting his genuine belief in the talent of the Blues' squad, as well as the togetherness and never-say-die attitude that runs through the dressing room.

Harrison, who joined the Toffees on a season-long loan from Leeds United last summer, was awarded his fourth goal of the season in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, after the Premier League Goal Accreditation Panel deemed the forward had applied a final deft touch following Dominic Calvert-Lewin's close-range header.

That was the first of two Everton levellers against Ange Postecoglou's high-flying side, who twice led courtesy of a pair of first-half goals from former Blue Richarlison.

Jarrad Branthwaite nodded home in second-half stoppage time to earn a share of the spoils, extending Everton's unbeaten run in the Premier League in 2024 to five games (one win, four draws).

Speaking to evertontv - firstly about his goal - afterwards, Harrison said: "We weren't sure at first - I think they've given it to me, but I really feel for Dom, he's been working really hard to get some more goals but I'm sure they are coning.

"I think coming from behind twice shows what the manager has been talking about - the mentality to keep going and keep fighting right until the end. It's still a game that we feel we might have got more out of as well, which is also a positive, but to come away from a point is crucial for us at this moment in time. We need all the points we can get and we just have to keep fighting.

"I think the past couple of seasons, to survive relegation and be in those tough spots, then you need that strong mentality to get through. You definitely feel it as part of this group and along with that you see a lot of talent with the players that we have. I have every confidence that we're going to keep putting points on the board - it's up to us to get the job done."

As he was during the goalless draw at Fulham four days earlier, Harrison was once again deployed in a more central role behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

And the 27-year-old, who is more familiar with occupying one of the flanks, says he - and the rest of his Everton teammates - are more than happy to do whatever it takes for the benefit of the team, particularly following a spate of injuries following a hectic December period.

"I think all the players have responded well to a bit of adversity," Harrison continued. "We've been a bit unfortunate with all the injuries we've had but players have been able to step in to new roles and get on with it... Do what you can for the team and putting the team first - that's what it's been about and that's the mentality that we're creating here. That's going to help us getting more points going forward.

"You saw it again today. Spurs have had a great season so far and they're a great squad so for us to come away feeling we should have got more - not just from this game, but from when we went to their place in December as well - is a positive sign for us.

"It's up to us to improve on small details and keep getting things right to put wins on the board. We're working hard to continue it."

Reflecting on his time at Goodison Park so far, he added: "It's been great so far. I've played in different positions and in a different style as well.

"The group has welcomed me in fantastically and I couldn't have asked for anymore, with them and the coaching staff and performance team as well behind the scenes who helped me come back from injury and put me in a good spot physically on the pitch.

"It's been great to be part of and I'm really happy."
