Everton Sign Madsen

Everton have completed the signing of forward Rikke Madsen on an 18-month deal until the end of June 2025.

An experienced Denmark international, the 26-year-old joins the Club following a spell in the USA with National Women's Soccer League side North Carolina Courage.

Capable of playing across the frontline, Madsen becomes Everton’s second signing of the January transfer window following the loan arrival of Kathrine Moller Kuhl.

“I’m so happy to be here,” Madsen told evertontv. “I’ve been eager to get to this club and to play in this league. I cannot wait to get started.

“I want to develop and become the best player I can be. I can’t wait to play in the Women’s Super League. I’ve heard so many good things about it.

“Some of my strengths is my physicality and running fast. It’s going to be fun to put that to good use here.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Club. It’s a really good environment, good teammates and the organisation as a whole.

“I just wanted to be a part of that.”

Madsen is now one of six Denmark internationals at the Club, alongside Danish boss Brian Sorensen.

“He (Brian Sorensen) sees something in me and my strengths, and how I can contribute to this team,” added the forward.

“That’s always the fun part about joining a new team - having a conversation with the new coach, how he sees me in the team, how they want to develop you. I’m looking forward to seeing how everything goes.”

On his second signing of the January window, Sorensen told evertonfc.com: “I’ve known Rikke for a long time and she’s been on our radar for a while so it’s good to get a deal finalised.

“She’s a very hardworking winger or centre forward, has pace and power, and she’s different in terms of what we have offensively.

“She stretches the defence, is really good in the press and arguably one of her best qualities is off the ball.”

Sorensen added: “We need players who can come into our squad and do a job from day one.

“Rikke is a senior international with World Cup experience who showed at North Carolina she can deal with the type of physicality here in England.

“What I know with Rikke is her mentality will mean she is going to bed-in straight away and that was one of the reasons we wanted to bring her to the Club.”
