Dyche On DCL Red Card And Everton Spirit

Sean Dyche rued more refereeing decisions against his Everton side - but pinpointed another impressive showing from his players and Blues fans - following the goalless FA Cup third round draw at Crystal Palace on Thursday night.

Everton were well on top for large periods of the tie at Selhurst Park and were pushing for a winner when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sent off 11 minutes from time for a challenge on Nathaniel Clyne. Referee Chris Kavanagh did not give a foul but was asked to go to the monitor by VAR and, after watching the tackle numerous times, decided to dismiss the Blues' No.9.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Toffees still looked the most likely team to score and were unlucky not to win a penalty late on when substitute Beto went down under a challenge from Joachim Andersen.

Dyche felt his team were on the wrong end of both calls as they now look to a replay at Goodison Park on the week commencing 15 January. But the Blues boss was keen to draw on another encouraging performance from his squad - including returning captain Seamus Coleman, keeper Joao Virginia and forward Arnaut Danjuma - along with the vocal and brilliant backing of 4,000 Evertonians.
