Dyche's Outlines Everton FA Cup Stance

Sean Dyche has stressed the importance of the FA Cup to Everton as they prepare to take on Crystal Palace in the competition's third round on Thursday evening, reiterating his side "want to win every game".

The Blues will head to Selhurst Park on the back of a gruelling run of eight fixtures in the space of a month. They started December in scintillating form, winning four successive matches without conceding a single goal.

However, a narrow penalty shootout defeat in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Fulham was followed up by three successive Premier League losses against Tottenham, Manchester City and Wolves.

In contrast to the performances against both Spurs and City, Dyche acknowledged the team fell short physically in the latter trip to Wolves but stated he won't be looking to make wholesale changes to his side for Thursday's trip to south London, despite another short turnaround.

"I've made it clear that we want to win every game," explained Dyche in Wednesday's press conference held at Finch Farm.

"We want to put a team out that can win every game. There are certain parts of the team that have been very successful in terms of the way they are playing as individuals and as a collective.

"We want to put out a side that I believe can win, that's certainly our mentality and viewpoint."

Everton have already beaten Palace on their own turf this season, securing a memorable 3-2 win in a topsy-turvy Premier League clash between the two in November.

Dyche, however, was keen to play down the psychological influence of that result and insisted his team must be prepared for a contest that could carry a different "feel" to the last head-to-head.

"Palace got the result they needed [against Brentford on Saturday] after a tough run of games, that can happen," he explained. "They have a very wise manager, that is for sure. I am not sure whether they will make changes or stick with the team - we will have to wait and see.

"Cup situations do sometimes change sides and the feel of a game, so we will have to make sure we are ready to get the feel right and the mentality right."

Saturday's defeat at Wolves was just Everton's third on the road from their 11 away games across all competitions this season.

While the manner of the loss was disappointing for Dyche, he was keen to reiterate such displays have been a rarity this season which highlights the progression the team has made across this campaign.

"What is key to the bigger picture is the performance levels have been good," added Dyche. "We didn't get the two results against City and Spurs but the performances were good.

"[Wolves] was the first game we had stepped away since Villa, but there was a different aspect to it, injuries taking their toll over the past few weeks.

"Eventually, I think for the players, the game schedule did catch up with us - I think that was obvious from the performance."
