Dubai Soccer Camps A Big Hit

Everton’s programme to coach young footballers in Dubai for the first time has been hailed as a huge success.

The Club’s International Soccer Schools Programme expanded into the United Arab Emirates earlier this month for a two-week camp, held at the Greenfield International School.

More than 200 boys and girls, aged between 7-18, took part in the programme, where they were put through their paces by fully-qualified coaches, using the same curriculum used by staff at the world-renowned Everton Academy.

Sean Robertson, International Technical Co-ordinator at Everton, said: “Thank you to everyone who attended our sessions in Dubai.

“After a long time in planning this unique experience, it was great to finally get on the pitch and start working with the players.

“Everyone came with a fantastic attitude and eagerness to learn and the talent on show was extremely high.”

The programme, which signalled Everton’s inaugural trip to the region to host their renowned soccer camps, helped youngsters hone all-important skills in 11 development sessions spread across the fortnight, and placed an emphasis on creating a fun and welcoming environment in which to learn.

Benefiting from the experience were youngsters from the TC United (Taaleem Community); a school-based ‘Love the Game’ football programme that consists of many schools within the UAE.

Assisted by Vinnie Burden, a teacher at Greenfield International School, TC United increases playing opportunities for all their students, while identifying talented players and adding to their journeys by delivering further training, creating opportunities to compete at an advanced level and fostering local & international pathways.

Robertson added: “A massive thank you to Vinnie, TC United, Greenfield International School and everyone behind the scenes, who help bring the International Academy to the Middle East for the very first time.

“The work Vinnie and the team there are undertaking on a daily basis has opened up a lot of new opportunities for local players & we are proud to be part of this journey.

“This is just the start of what we believe will be a very successful relationship between the Everton International Academy and TC United and we can’t wait to return and make an even bigger impact, both on and off the pitch.”

Everton’s International Soccer Schools Programme is already well established in the USA, with thousands of children taking part in camps across 16 states last summer.

And as the Club’s international strategy, launched in April 2021, continues to evolve, a series of Soccer Schools have been confirmed for 2024 in Indonesia.

The programme will continue to expand in the coming years, with plans in place to continue developing the Soccer Schools initiative in other parts of the world.
