Loan Watch: Mills Registers Fourth Assist

It was another busy weekend of football with many of our Everton loanees in action for their temporary clubs. Here is an overview of how our players performed in this week’s Loan Watch... 

Stanley Mills - Oxford United

Result: 3-0 win
Overview: Mills picked up another assist for promotion-chasing Oxford in an important win at the weekend.

Receiving the ball on the right wing from a switch of play, the 20-year-old brought it down, before playing a through ball towards Ruben Rodrigues, who collected the pass, cut inside, and fired in the opening goal of the game.

Mills featured for 84 mins for the U’s, who sit third in League One after the weekend’s results.  

The assist, his fourth of the league campaign, puts Mills on 0.47 goal contributions per 90 minutes, and only Rodrigues has averaged more out of Oxford players with more than 10 starts.


Harry Tyrer - Chesterfield

Competition: National League
Date: Saturday 16 December    
Result: 1-0 win
Overview: Chesterfield earned a fifth consecutive victory on Saturday, and goalkeeper Tyrer made a 20th league start for the Spireites.

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes for the away side, whose victory extends their comfortable lead atop the National League table.

Overview: Leban played the full 90 minutes as Farsley Celtic earned an away point at Banbury United.

In the 94th minute, the young goalkeeper made a crucial save, tipping a Banbury effort over the bar to keep his side in the game.

Farsley Celtic are back in action on Tuesday evening as they take on Tadcaster Albion in the West Riding County Cup Second Round.

Reece Welch – Forest Green Rovers

Result: 2-0 defeat
Overview: Welch’s Forest Green fell to a 2-0 defeat on Saturday, with the 20-year-old centre-back starting the game from the substitutes bench.

He played 10 minutes at the end of the match, coming on to make his 16th league appearance of the season.

Forest Green are back in action on Tuesday evening, when they take on Blackpool in the FA Cup Second Round.

Result: 2-1 defeat 
Overview: Injury-stricken Brentford fell to a late Ollie Watkins goal in a 2-1 defeat to high-flying Aston Villa on Sunday.

Keane Lewis-Potter put the Bees ahead after 45 minutes, before Ben Mee’s dismissal preceded goals by Alex Moreno and Watkins, which put the visitors in front. Villa’s Boubacar Kamara was also sent off after 97 minutes in a feisty affair.

On-loan Maupay was introduced into the game after 68 minutes, just moments before his side went down to 10 men.

Overview: Warrington was missing from the matchday squad as Plymouth scored a 96th-minute to pick up all three points in a five-goal thriller.
