Dobbin Hails 'Perfect' Everton Day

Lewis Dobbin hailed Sunday's 2-0 win over Chelsea as "perfect" as the Everton attacker came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal.

Abdoulaye Doucoure put the Blues ahead eight minutes into the second half before the 20-year-old, introduced in the 86th minute for Jack Harrison, ran onto a part-clearance from an Everton corner to smash home the milestone personal strike to seal the 2-0 victory.

Speaking to evertontv after the win, Dobbin said: "It's amazing - the perfect day. Obviously first of all, getting the three points at home and keeping the momentum going [is important], but to score in front of a full Goodison is what dreams are made off."

Following the win, manager Sean Dyche praised the approach of Dobbin who has had to be patient in waiting for his Senior side opportunities, with Sunday being just his first Premier League appearance of the campaign.

After impressing so much in pre-season, the attacker admitted that while it has been frustrating to not feature in more matches, he knows taking his chances, like he did against Chelsea, can only enhance his prospects going forward.

"It's no secret that you can get frustrated but in this team, they have been flying," accepted Dobbin. "So I have just had to keep working hard and take my chances when they come my way. Today, I did that.

"It's a squad game, so it's about making sure I am training right to help raise the standards for everyone else. It's a big thing, to make sure we can perform at our best when we do play. I have to have the right attitude and take my chances when I do get them."

While minutes in Dyche's side have been hard to come by for Dobbin, the youngster credited recent game time with Paul Tait's Under-21s - for whom he's scored two goals across his past three matches  - as being key to keeping him sharp.

"It's a big thing getting minutes - it's not the same as just training. It's been good to keep ticking over and getting those minutes.

He added: We've got a lot of games this month, so I am going to keep working hard, giving my all and hopefully get the rewards for that."
