The game at Crystal Palace on Saturday was crazy from minute one! We scored, then they scored, and then it was quite even, I felt. We let them get the second equaliser, which was disappointing, but in the end I think we deserved the three points.
After they scored for a second time, we knew we had to try to find a way to win the game which is what we did.
Our holding midfielder ended up in the box and scored the goal. He was one of the unlikeliest players on the pitch to do it but that sums us up as a team in that we’re all together. Credit to Gana - he came on at half-time, showed his class, and ended up winning us the game.
The manager speaks all the time about having that winning mentality. We were under pressure for parts of the game but it was all controlled. As a team, we knew what we were doing. The subs who came on knew their job and we got the game over the line.
From a personal point of view, I’ve been pleased with how I’ve been playing in recent weeks. I was waiting for my chance to show what I can do in the middle of the park and I’d like to say I’ve done that.
I’ve been able to build a partnership with Amadou but, equally, I feel good playing with Gana. We started together against Brighton and I thought we were excellent so I feel it doesn’t matter who is playing in the middle of the pitch. Even if it’s not me, I believe we are secure there.
The Palace win was our third in London this season and I think it highlights the progress we are making. The manager has spoken a lot about us needing to change results away from home and we’ve done that so far. Long may it continue.
It’s encouraging to see us getting goals from across the team, too, with Myko and Gana on the scoresheet on Saturday. It’s always nice when it’s not just the strikers scoring the goals. Them and the wingers are the ones expected to get the goals and assists so it helps us when everyone can chip in.
At the start of the season, we were unfortunate not to come away with three points in matches but we’re earning the results we’ve been getting. We’re playing well and we feel like a real team.
We just want to look up and forward now and we just need to keep on winning games. It’s cliched but it’s all about focusing on your next game and keep on getting three points.
It’s always a plus going into the international break with three points. We all have a positive attitude and hopefully we can go into the United game and get three points there.
