Everton Beaten By Man Utd

Everton suffered their second defeat in the League Cup as they were beaten 7-0 away to Manchester United.

It was a sobering night for Brian Sorensen's team who simply were unable to match the quality of one of the English top-flight's best.

The Blues boss made five changes to the side that drew to Tottenham Hotspur, with Aurora Galli handed the Captain's armband for the absent Megan Finnigan.

It was a tightly fought contest for the opening half hour, but a quick-fire double from United saw the hosts assert their dominance and take control of the tie.

Their first of the evening saw the ball whipped in from the right to find Nikkita Parris inside the box. Her header going past Emily Ramsey to give the hosts the lead.

Two minutes later the ball was again sent in from the right, this time finding Rachel Williams whose header hit off the post and in for a second.

The second half saw United extend their lead further.

Everton were temporarily two players down due to injury as the hosts capitalised on the extra numbers. A corner was played short and then sent into the area for Hayley Ladd to slot in past Ramsey.

A fourth strike saw Parris at the heart of the action once more, finishing again on 69 minutes.

Parris completed her hat-trick nine minutes later, placing home Ella Toone's pass across goal.

Substitute Geyse then added a sixth on 84 minutes.

United's seventh strike came from Leah Galton, scored on 88 minutes.
