Garner Relives 'Massive' Moment

James, a first home win of the Premier League season. How happy are you?

I'm made up. It's something that we've been needing, this performance and result. Today was important for us and the fans, who have been disappointed with our home form - and rightfully so. We have been disappointed, too. We've been so close to winning games on home this season but we've not quite managed it. Today was massive.

You mention the fans - just how much do they help when they're behind you like that?

They do. They're like the 12th man. I think everyone would agree. Them being behind us is really helpful.

A first Premier League goal for you as well. Talk us through that moment and your emotions afterwards...

I was breaking through and I had Dom [Calvert-Lewin] and Doucs [Doucoure] on my left... I was spoilt for choice. Maybe I picked the wrong choice! But the ball ended up in the back of the net and I'm happy to get my first goal.

It felt like after the opening goal we had so much confidence to really push on. How important was it to get that goal early?

It was massive. This season we've been creating so many chances, especially at home, but we've just not quite put them away. Today, getting that first goal early and to carry on creating those chances was massive for us. To finally break that and get three goals at home was important.

Our press looked like it was really causing Bournemouth problems. Was that an important part of the gameplan - winning the ball back high up the pitch?

Yes. The manager wants us to press at all times. He wanted us to press up high today and that's how the first goal came about. We had a few chances in the second half where it was the exact same scenario.

How important was the timing of the win, heading into the international break, especially ahead of a huge game with the Merseyside derby next up...

It is massive. I think every game in the Premier League is just as important but we're on a good run at the moment, apart from last week where even then we thought we should have won the game. We've won three games out of our past four and we have some momentum now going into the derby.
