Campbell Signs For Everton

Everton can confirm the signing of Republic of Ireland international Megan Campbell.

The 30-year-old defender joins the Blues with a wealth of Women’s Super League experience following spells at Manchester City and Liverpool.

Capable of performing as a centre-half or at left-back, Campbell strengthens Brian Sorensen’s squad ahead of their league opener at Walton Hall Park against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday (1pm kick-off BST).

“I'm delighted to be here,” Campbell told evertonfc.com. “It's a different challenge for me, coming into the WSL with a new team, and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully I can thrive in the blue of Everton and I’m confident it can be a successful season for the team.

“Last season, the squad did very well under Brian and proved they can go places under his leadership. This season can be another step in that process.

“I want to come in, enjoy the experience and hopefully help the team where I can. I am a senior player. I have played in the WSL and against top internationals, so I want to support my teammates wherever I can and make an impact, too.”

On his latest signing, boss Sorensen said: “We are delighted to welcome Megan to the Club. She is a player who is rich in experience both domestically and internationally with Ireland.

“Heading into the new season, we wanted to add some experience to our group and Megan ticks every box in that department.

“We are pleased to have Megan at Everton and I look forward to working with her this season.”
