Thelwell On New Everton Striker's Qualities

Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, hailed the arrival of “undoubted talent” and long-term target Youssef Chermiti after the exciting young striker became the Club’s third signing of the summer.

The 19-year-old built up an impressive reputation in a short space of time with Sporting Clube de Portugal’s senior team, netting three goals and registering a further two assists in just 844 minutes of league action last season.

That breaks down to a 90-minutes goal contribution average of 0.53, roughly one goal or assist for every two appearances.

Following the completion of the transfer, Thelwell praised Chermiti’s promise and said he is looking forward to seeing the teenager thrive at Everton.

“We are delighted to secure the signing of Youssef,” revealed Thelwell to evertonfc.com. “He is a player we have been tracking for a long time.

“He is a talented striker with a lot to offer who showed his undoubted talent in Portugal last season with Sporting.

“Having turned 19 in May, there is plenty of room for Youssef to develop his game, too, and we are looking forward to him being a success with Everton for many years to come.”
