Galli: Piemonte Is Perfect Player For Everton

Aurora Galli believes Everton have secured the perfect striker for their forward line in Martina Piemonte.

The 25-year-old joined the Club this summer with a wealth of experience competing at the top level in Italy and Spain.

Piemonte has now been reunited with her Italy teammate Galli on Merseyside, and the Blues midfielder is overjoyed to see another player from her homeland make the step overseas to England.

“I’m very happy that Martina has decided to join Everton,” Galli told evertonfc.com.

“Over the past two years, I have expressed how much I want more Italians to join me here in England. To have the second-ever Italian now here is amazing, and for it to be at Everton is even better.

“Martina is great in the box. Any ball you put into her she will take it – she’s excellent in the air, too.

“When I’ve played with her in the past, I’m confident that when I play the ball through to her that she will probably score.

“I don’t score too much, so I’m confident Martina will make new goalscoring records for Italians in the Women’s Super League!

“She has joined a good group here at Everton. She is a strong woman and a strong player. I’m confident she will help us improve and I hope she enjoys her time here as much as I have so far.”

Everton returned to Finch Farm towards the end of last month to begin their pre-season preparations as Piemonte familiarised herself with her new Club teammates.

While several players are yet to return to Everton due to their commitments at the World Cup, Galli believes a partnership of her Italian teammate and last season’s top goalscorer Katja Snoeijs is one that could prove successful.

“Martina is a strong player, when you see her, she has a big physique, she is huge!” Galli continued.

“If she continues to work on her build then she can offer something that we perhaps were missing going forward last season.

“A striker who can take the ball, cover it, and wait for support to join her forward.

“Of course, Katja [Snoeijs] is a very good player, but the characteristics she has is different from Martina.

“Together I think they can play some really good football.”
