Goalkeeper Emily Ramsey has joined Everton, signing a three-year contract with the Club until the end of June 2026.  

The 22-year-old England youth international returns to the Blues after spending last season on loan with Brian Sorensen’s side, making eight Women’s Super League appearances and finishing the season boasting the best save percentage in the division (82.5 per cent). 

Ramsey becomes the Club’s second permanent signing of the summer following the arrival of Italy international striker Martina Piemonte, while Aurora Galli also committed her future to Everton with a new deal earlier this week.

The highly-rated Ramsey, who was called into the senior England squad in February, makes the permanent switch to Merseyside after the expiry of her contract at Manchester United, where she made six senior appearances having come through the Red Devils’ academy.

“It feels great to be back at Everton and for it to be permanently this time,” Ramsey told evertontv.

“I really enjoyed my time here last season.

“To have signed a three-year deal is massive. I think that’ll help me moving into the new season, knowing I have the full support and backing of the Club.

“Feeling like I belong here, that I’m valued, will help me and push me forward.

“I really enjoyed the way we played last season, the style of play from the manager, and the environment of the group.

“We had some great fans supporting us and we had a good season.

“I see potential in this team and in this club. They’re looking to do good things and I want to be a part of it.

“I’m happy to be here and to get going.”

After helping Sorensen’s side make encouraging progress last season while competing for a starting spot with Republic of Ireland international Courtney Brosnan, Ramsey hopes Everton can build on the foundations laid and kick on.

“First and foremost, I want to play and to perform well for the team,” she added.

“I feel we’re pushing up towards the top teams in the league now. This team can take a step towards that.

“I’m hoping for a successful season, build on what we had last year and go from strength to strength.

“This is the league everybody wants to play in across the world right now.

“Everton are a big club and we’re doing well in the league.

“It’s exciting for me and my family and, of course, I want to be a WSL goalkeeper, and this is a really good opportunity to do that.

“I’m still quite young, but to feel the belief and trust that the manager has already put in me from last season means a lot.

“The conversations that we’ve had have been really positive and I’m looking forward to implementing his game plan, learn more from him and hopefully make myself even better.”

On Ramsey’s permanent move to Everton, Sorensen said: “Emily has the potential to be one of the best goalkeepers in this league.

“She has the ability to grow – possibly the most potential I’ve ever seen in a goalkeeper – and the next few years will be about helping her get into the England squad on a regular basis and building her into an even better player.

“We want players who want to be here, and Emily is one of them. 

“She had a lot of options but she chose Everton and the platform we have offered her to develop further and play.

“We’re so lucky to have Courtney [Brosnan] here as well. They are the perfect pair to have in our squad, not only because of the way they work together, but whoever we put in goal we know that we have quality.

“I see a big future for Emily and I’m excited to work with her again.”
