Birthday boy Demarai Gray scored twice in his second appearance for Jamaica as the Reggae Boyz secured a 4-1 Concacaf Gold Cup win over Trinidad & Tobago in St Louis, USA on Wednesday night.

The Everton forward has made an impressive impact since earning his maiden call-up for the Caribbean nation, creating the goal in Jamaica's opening 1-1 draw with tournament hosts USA and then hitting a first-half double against Trinidad in their Group A clash in St Louis, Missouri. 

On his 27th birthday, Gray grabbed his first on 14 minutes, collecting a pass inside the box from Aston Villa's Leon Bailey and sliding a shot into the bottom right-hand corner.

Bailey doubled Jamaica's advantage three minutes later before Gray made the game safe on the half-hour mark, tapping home from close range after good work from West Ham striker Michail Antonio.

Trinidad reduced the deficit shortly after half-time but Dujuan Richards made it 4-1 with seconds of the contest remaining to ensure Jamaica will progress to the quarter-finals if they beat Saint Kitts and Nevis on Monday (12am BST).

Meanwhile, Jarrad Branthwaite completed 90 minutes while James Garner also featured as England Under-21s made it three wins from three with a 2-0 victory over Germany on Wednesday evening in Batumi, Georgia.

Branthwaite performed excellently, completing 76 passes at a rate of 95%, as well as making seven clearances, recording two interceptions and completing three tackles.

Having won their two opening European Championships group games, England came into the clash with Germany after already sealed qualification into the quarter-finals. 

With this in mind, Lee Carsley had the luxury of resting key men ahead of that last-eight encounter. James Garner was amongst those starting from the bench. 

Fellow Everton player Branthwaite was one of several players brought into the side, making his first appearance of the tournament and gaining valuable international minutes. 

It was a typically quick start as the Young Lions took the lead after just four minutes. Cameron Archer clinically tucked away an incisive Jacob Ramsey pass. 

England began the game showing vast confidence, with Branthwaite being one of the men looking to nail down a place in the side for the knockout stages. 

Germany knew a victory was necessary to qualify for the next round, but they were being outplayed by the Young Lions in the first half.

20 minutes in, Harvey Elliott made it two with a low drive from the edge of the penalty area, following a well-worked move from the back.

Heading into the break with a two-goal cushion, England began the second half with assertion, dominating the ball and forcing Germany into retreat.

Branthwaite was key to the possession style of play, making incisive passes into the feet of midfield players throughout. 

On the hour mark, Garner was introduced to make his third appearance of the group stage; this time in a more natural midfield role.

No further goals were added, and England made it three wins out of three without conceding a goal.

Both Branthwaite and Garner will be in contention to be involved on Sunday evening (5pm BST) as England take on Portugal in the last eight of the competition.
