Pickford And Gray Nominated For PL Awards

Jordan Pickford and Demarai Gray have been nominated for Premier League awards for the 2022/23 season.

Gray has been shortlisted for the Budweiser Goal of the Season award, while Pickford is up for both Castrol Save of the Season and the Castrol Game Changer award.

Nominated for his goal against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve, Gray’s stunning strike earned a point for the Blues at the Etihad Stadium.

After Idrissa Gana Guye’s interception kick-started an Everton counter-attack, Gray sprinted from the halfway line towards the edge of the Man City penalty area. He cut back, creating space, before impressively firing the ball into the far top corner.

Pickford’s Save of the Season contender comes from his acrobatic effort against Liverpool on September 3rd.

Latching onto a long ball over the top of the Everton defence, Darwin Nunez chested the ball down, before unleashing a volley from the right side of the penalty area. The ball nearly found the far corner, but Pickford produced a world-class stop to tip the ball on to the crossbar.

Pickford’s impressive campaign also sees him nominated for the Castrol Game Changer award – a category to recognise outstanding performances from individual matches.

Everton and England's No.1 earns the nod for his showing against Liverpool in early September – the same match in which he produced the Save of the Season contender.

In this Merseyside derby, Pickford produced eight stops to help Everton to earn a point against their local rivals. Seven of those saves were from shots inside the Everton penalty area, but Pickford denied them all during an incredible display.
