Clinical Chelsea Beat Blues

Everton fell to a 7-0 defeat on Sunday night to the reigning Women’s Super League champions, Chelsea.

The London outfit showcased why they remain in a title fight with dominant display against their Merseyside visitors.

Five goals in the opening half at Kingsmeadow put the game well beyond Everton’s reach.

Guro Reiten struck first, her effort across goal beating Courtney Brosnan on 12 minutes.

A second for Chelsea came 14 minutes later when Niamh Charles’ ball found Sam Kerr at the back post. Her header arriving in the top-right corner.

An injury to goalscorer Kerr saw Pernille Harder introduced who netted the hosts third on 33 minutes.

Sophie Ingle and Jessie Fleming combined for a fourth for the London side. The latter finding the back of the net.

On the stroke of half time, Fleming had a brace to make it five to Chelsea.

The visitors did their upmost to nullify the ruthlessness of Chelsea’s goal threats in the second half, but they were able to find a sixth late in the night.

Substitute Erin Cuthbert played the ball across goal to find Harder for her second of the evening.

Scotland international Cuthbert got Chelsea’s seventh in injury time with an effort from outside the box, arriving in the bottom corner.
