Snoeijs: Future Is Bright For Us

Katja Snoeijs is optimistic on the future for Everton after a significant season of progress in the Women’s Super League.

It’s been a positive campaign for Brian Sorensen’s side who look on course for a finish in the top half of the league table with four games remaining.

Snoeijs – the Blues’ top scorer so far this term – has applauded her teammates’ effort for adapting quickly to a new chapter for the side.

“I felt like from the very beginning of the season that we had a clear vision of how we wanted to play,” she told evertonfc.com.

“All the players bought into it, and I feel that’s really important.

“There was a period where it was a bit more difficult. We didn’t get the results we wanted but we still were working on how we wanted to play.

“There are still games left this season where we can get results and play the good football that we want to play.

“We want to build on that for next season. It can only get better.”

There have been several significant milestones achieved by the squad this season, but one of the most historic was the record home crowd for March’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Snoeijs says she still gets goosebumps when she reminisces about the unforgettable occasion.

“It was really special,” the Dutch forward continued.

“Even returning to Goodison since, I get that feeling again, especially when I stand so close to the field.

“Of course, it wasn’t the result that we wanted but when you take a step back and realise how many Evertonians came to the stadium just to see us play and support us was really amazing.”

Preparations are already well under way for next season with Megan Finnigan and Lucy Hope recently committing their long-term future to the Club.

And Snoeijs says that double boost has lifted the group.

“Meg and Lucy are important players for us,” she said.

“They always perform consistently well for us. They bring good vibes and energy to the team.

“It’s important that those kinds of players sign new deals and know that come next season, you can rely on them again.”

Focus remains on this season for now, though, with consecutive matches at the Blues’ Walton Hall Park on the horizon.

A midweek fixture against Arsenal followed by a weekend clash against Brighton & Hove Albion and Snoeijs hopes Evertonians can come in their numbers to cap off a memorable campaign.

“We would love to finish our home campaign with back-to-back sell-out crowds,” she added.

“It would be great to have supporters come down to Walton Hall Park to support us.

“What is really special about our home games is that we always try to interact with our fans after the game.

“Whether it’s a photo or signing something, we always have the time for our supporters so be sure to come down and watch us.”
