Pickford's Mixed Emotions & Momentum Vow

Jordan Pickford admits he has mixed emotions following Everton's eventful 2-2 draw at Leicester City - but says the Toffees can build on the battling performance they put on at King Power Stadium.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin earned Everton a deserved lead after quarter of an hour via the penalty spot but, despite dominating the opening period, the visitors trailed at the interval after spurning several chances and conceding goals from Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy.

It could have been worse, too, but for Pickford's intervention in first-half stoppage time, saving England teammate James Maddison's spot-kick.

That proved crucial as Everton fought back to come away with a point courtesy of Alex Iwobi's second-half volley.

Speaking afterwards on the penalty stop, Pickford said: "I do my homework. I called it this morning, which way I was going to go, but he's a good player with his delivery and he can whip it or open it up.

"I think he expects me to dive so I think I've double-bluffed him and got one up on him. But, yes, it was a big moment in the game and I'm happy I saved it because that's what I'm there to do, try to help out my teammates if they make mistakes."

A point apiece means just one point separates four teams in the fight for Premier League survival, with just four games of the campaign remaining.

"We're both fighting. We're both down there. There's probably a bit of anxiety, a bit of pressure out on the pitch from both teams," continued Pickford.

"I thought we played brilliant in the first 20 minutes - we did exactly what the gaffer wanted from us, then we dropped off the boil and they came into the game a bit.

"We created a lot of chances tonight. Their keeper, Iversen, made some very good saves, so credit to him because when he was called upon he made those saves.

"I think it's the most chances we've created since the manager came in, if not all season, so that's a plus but a negative as well."

DYCHE ON WHAT LEICESTER POINT CAN DO FOR EVERTON

Blues manager on 2-2 draw and Seamus Coleman injury update.

The spirited nature of Everton's performance was greeted with a cacophony of noise from the 3,286 travelling Evertonians after the final whistle.

It was a display, Pickford believes, can be built upon.

"I thought we were brilliant but it's just the fine details at the end, small details win games, but we didn't get beat and we have momentum now," he added.

"It's very tight down there and it's about momentum. We need to roll our sleeves up and just keep working hard, keep that fighting spirit together, which I think we showed out there tonight.

"We have Brighton away next Monday so it will be rest, recover and get ready for that."
