A superb Nicoline Sorensen effort helped to secure three points for Everton as they beat Reading 3-2 on Sunday.

Brian Sorensen’s side were down by two after 17 minutes, but goals from Hanna Bennison and Katja Snoeijs brought the Blues level before Sorensen curled in a late winner.

The Toffees came into Sunday’s league clash off the back of a narrow defeat to Brighton midweek, eager to bounce back as quickly as possible.

Four changes were made to the starting line-up, with Bennison, Karen Holmgaard and Elise Stenevik starting from the off. Nathalie Bjorn who missed out through injury returned in defence.

Within the opening minute, Everton suffered an early blow.

Charlie Wellings fell inside the penalty area as the referee awarded the hosts a spot kick.

Justine Vanhaevermaet stepped up to take, finishing into the bottom right corner with Courtney Brosnan sent in the opposite direction.

Reading's advantage was doubled on 17 minutes.

Sanne Troelsgaard Nielsen regained possession inside the Everton box and found Vanhaevermaet who slotted her second of the afternoon into the far corner.

Everton needed a response which they found on the stroke of half time.

A brilliant counter-attack move saw Lucy Hope break down the left channel, her colleagues in the Toffees yellow racing after her.

Bennison was first to arrive in the box as the she received the ball off the Scot, took a touch before comfortably tucking the ball under Grace Moloney.

A rejuvenated Everton returned for the second half, continuing to mount pressure on the hosts which was ultimately rewarded when a spot kick went the visitors way.

A foul on Jess Park earned the Blues a penalty which was excellently converted by Snoeijs, the Dutch forward's third goal for the Club within a matter of days.

It was Everton who were in the ascendancy and the comeback was completed after 83 minutes.

Second-half substitute Aurora Galli delivered the ball over the top to find Sorensen down the right. The rest was the Dane's making.

Cutting inside, brushing past two of the Royals defenders, the 25-year-old curled a beautiful ball into the far corner to put her side in front for the first time of the afternoon.

A sensational finish to cap off a dramatic afternoon of action.

The Blues will be on the road once more when they travel to face Chelsea next on Sunday 7 May.
