Snoeijs: We Must Bounce Back Quickly

Katja Snoeijs believes Everton have the ideal opportunity to quickly bounce back from Wednesday's disappointing defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Blues were beaten 3-2 on the road against a Brighton side who continue to battle at the bottom end of the Women’s Super League table.

Snoeijs twice reduced the Seagulls' lead with a pair of excellent finishes in what was arguably her best performance in an Everton shirt to date.

Despite the Dutch forward’s inspired second-half display the Toffees left the Broadfield Stadium empty-handed but with a trip to 11th-placed Reading on the horizon (Sunday, 2pm KO), she says the squad's collective focus must switch immediately.

“It’s a disappointing result,” said Snoeijs in an honest interview with evertonfc.com.

“We weren’t good enough.

HIGHLIGHTS: BRIGHTON WOMEN 3-2 EVERTON WOMEN

Match highlights from Women's Super League encounter away to Brighton & Hove Albion.

“Overall, they wanted it more than we did which isn’t acceptable by our standards.

“We can do better and we will do better.

“It’s important for us now to focus on Reading. We will analyse what we must do better, but we need a stronger mentality.

“They wanted it more than us and for a club like Everton that isn’t acceptable.

“On Sunday we need to rectify that and put in a performance that’s worthy of a result.

“That comes with our mindset, training well over these coming days and making sure we take three points against Reading.”

Snoeijs' brace took her to five goals for the season as she continues to show significant progress in her debut season in the English top-flight.

However, the 26-year-old was unable to take any satisfaction from her double on Wednesday as it ultimately didn’t amount to points on the board.

“Personally, as a striker it’s good to get goals, you want to get as many as possible,” added Snoeijs.

“In the end though, the result is the most important thing and we’re disappointed in ourselves that we weren’t to take something from the game.

“To get two goals means nothing in the end if it doesn’t help to secure a result. It was a frustrating night for us.”
