Remembering The 97

Since 15 April 1989 our city has been united in grief for the fans whose lives were lost because they went to a football match.

Tomorrow, on the 34th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy, Everton and all Evertonians will pay respect to the 97 and their loved ones.

A period of silence will be observed at Goodison Park shortly before the kick-off of our Premier League game against Fulham and Everton’s players will wear black armbands. Floral tributes will also be laid in advance of the game by Everton Club Ambassadors and fan representatives at both the Hillsborough Memorial plaque on the Sir Philip Carter Park Stand of Goodison Park and at the Hillsborough Memorial at Anfield.

The players, management, staff and supporters of Everton have a simple message for those who lost loved ones on 15 April 1989.

The 97 will never be forgotten.

Merseyside will always be united.
