Gana Earns 100th Cap; Onana Stars For Belgium

Everton’s Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gana Gueye both played the full 90 minutes in dominant victories on Friday night.

Gana reached an incredible landmark, as he made his 100th appearance for Senegal in their 5-1 thrashing over Mozambique, while Onana shone amongst a star-studded Belgium team in their 3-0 away victory over Sweden.

Gana featured in the Senegalese midfield, as they dominated their opponents to pick up a comfortable victory. He managed to show his technical capabilities, making 103 touches, as well as completing 90% of his passes, including all four of his long passes.

The 33-year-old played the full game to mark a century of appearances as his Senegal side earned the stunning win in the third matchday of AFCON qualifiers.

Meanwhile, over in Sweden, Onana started for Belgium alongside Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco in Belgium’s first UEFA European Championship qualifier of the campaign.

The 21-year-old displayed a dominant midfield performance, winning all five of his aerial duels, completing 87% of his passes, and winning an impressive six out of his nine ground duels.

His showing helped Domenico Tedesco’s team to keep a clean sheet, while former Blue, Romelu Lukaku fired in a hat-trick to win the three points for Belgium.

Elsewhere, Alex Iwobi also played 90 minutes, but his Nigeria team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Guinea Bissau, despite dominating much of the game in Abuja, Nigeria.
