Pickford Named In England Squad

Jordan Pickford has been selected in the England squad for the Three Lions’ upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine.

Gareth Southgate announced his official squad on Thursday at 2pm, with the group due to meet next week.

Pickford has been a pivotal figure for England under Southgate and started as the Three Lions’ No.1 in each of the past three major tournaments, including last year’s World Cup in Qatar.

The Everton stopper secured his 50th senior international cap in England’s final game of that tournament when they suffered a 2-1 loss to France in the quarter-finals.

Pickford made his senior international debut in November 2017, five months after joining Everton from Sunderland in a record transfer for a British goalkeeper.

England’s qualifying double-header kicks off against Italy at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples on Thursday 23 March (7.45pm GMT).

Ukraine will then visit Wembley Stadium on Sunday 26 September (5pm GMT).

James Garner, meanwhile, has been called up by England Under-21s for upcoming matches against France and Croatia at Leicester City's King Power Stadium and Fulham's Craven Cottage respectively.
