Alan Shearer has plenty of praise for Toffees trio, Sean Dyche, James Tarkowski, and Amadou Onana. Everton’s excellent performance under the new manager saw them secure a well-deserved 1-0 victory over league leaders Arsenal on Saturday.

Onana impressed throughout the 90 minutes with another dominant midfield performance, while Tarkowski delivered an excellent defensive display, as well as scoring his first goal for the Blues.

The performances of the two players didn’t go unnoticed, and Premier League legend Shearer, had lots to say about the pair.

Speaking on Tarkowski to PremierLeague.com and quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Shearer said: “He dominated Eddie Nketiah at one end and scored the winner at the other.”

Describing Onana’s performance, Shearer added: “A tireless display against Arsenal. Ran himself into the ground.”

On the role of Sean Dyche, the Newcastle icon added, “His game plan worked to perfection, as his side earned a vital win in his first match at the helm.”

Shearer furthered his praise for the trio by naming all three in his Premier League Team of the Week.

After Everton’s result against Arsenal, Leon Osman believes Everton will be confident when they take on Liverpool next Monday.

Speaking on Match of the Day, the former Blues midfielder said, “I’ve got to be honest; I was nervous a couple of weeks back, but when you see how easy Liverpool are to play against, and how difficult it is for them to find goals… I think Everton will be confident going into that game.”

Highlighting the importance of the midfield battle during the Merseyside derby, Osman labelled Everton’s Onana, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Idrissa Gana Gueye as having: “Power, physicality, and pace to cover the distance at both ends of the pitch".
