Blues Fan’s Dream Gets Primetime TV Slot

A feature that tells the story behind Everton fan Paul Stratton scoring a penalty in front of thousands of fans at Goodison Park, following last summer’s ‘Match For Peace’ against Dynamo Kyiv, has been aired on BBC One and iPlayer.

The background story of how Everton helped to lay on the surprise for Paul featured on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on Saturday night.

The collaboration between the production team and Everton was organised to reward the selfless Liverpool Council worker, who has made numerous trips to Poland in order to help fleeing refugees since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February last year.

Season Ticket Member Paul, 44, was sent on to the pitch as the finale to the charity fixture - the first ‘Match for Peace’ hosted in the UK - and netted his spot-kick at the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street end, with footage later being shared across the world on news channels and social media.
