New Appointments And New Members For EDSA

As we begin 2023 and look to the year ahead, we would like to confirm several changes to the structure of Everton Disabled Supporters' Association (EDSA) and welcome four new members to our committee.

With immediate effect, Mark Dyer will be EDSA’s chairperson, moving up from secretary to take over from the long-serving Steve Heneghan.

Steve is one of four members stepping down from the committee this year, having played a key role in helping to establish EDSA when it launched in 1994 and worked tirelessly to ensure a better matchday experience for disabled Evertonians ever since.

In recognition of his service, we are delighted to say Steve has been appointed to the honorary role of Founder and Life President.

In addition to the appointment of a new chair, Carmel McLoughlin and Sean McGeever have become joint vice chairs of the committee, with Amy Wilson taking up the position of secretary. Pat Rooney will remain as EDSA's treasurer.

Alongside Steve, long-serving members Jan Syme, John Syme and Bill Sanders will also be stepping down from their roles on the committee, although all three will remain closely linked to EDSA as associate members.

We are pleased to welcome Mark O'Toole, Vinny Keating, Sandra Williams and Claire Graham, who will take up the four vacant places on the committee and sit alongside existing committee members Keith Done and Michael Thompson.

Since 1994, EDSA has worked alongside Everton Football Club to improve facilities for disabled fans at Goodison Park, providing constant feedback to ensure a positive matchday experience for both home and away supporters.

“It’s an honour to have been appointed chair of EDSA and to have the opportunity to carry on the work which has made this organisation so vital for our members,” said Mark on taking up his new role.

“We look forward to working alongside the Club and our colleagues in the other stakeholder groups to continue to improve the matchday experience for all disabled fans.”

We would like to express a huge thank you to Steve, Jan, John and Bill for their dedication and commitment to EDSA and offer a warm welcome to our new members, Mark, Vinny, Sandra and Claire.
