Frank Lampard has outlined his message to his players ahead of Everton's first match of 2023.

The Blues face Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night, and the manager wishes to see the same level of performance from Saturday's 1-1 draw away to Manchester City.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference and quoted in the Liverpool Echo, Lampard said: "[I expect] the same approach in mentality and work ethic and all of those things because I think they have got to be standard in football, they just look different, and it will look different against Brighton.

"My message is also that it is a very good team coming to Goodison, a very good possession team that will play, that will stop the game, and when I say stop the game they will stay on the ball and move it from back to front, so we have to have a real work ethic and a discipline about our game and we will look at that tactically with the players.

"It is about bringing a 'good feel' to us now. Can we get together and deliver that feeling in the stadium on Tuesday night because it will be a really tough match."

In transfer news, it is reported Mason Holgate could be on his way to the south coast.

The Sunday People have linked the defender with a move to Southampton but it is unclear if the proposed move would be on loan or on a permanent basis.

Another defender who could be on the move is Michael Keane.

Reporter Paul Brown believes the 29-year-old is set to join West Ham United this month.

In an interview with Give Me Sport, Brown said: "I think Michael Keane’s decided that he’s going to have to move to get more football, so I think he’s going to go somewhere and West Ham, I would say, are favourites at the moment."
